A picture says a thousand words, but a PHOTO . . .

So my piece "Mirror 3" [link] just got featured for a THIRD time on DA. Makes me think that I should have taken more photography classes in college when I had access to real cameras, film, and a darkroom. The stuff that gets the most hits on my account is the photos and the fanart, both of which have many groups of obsessed and rabid collectors.

Thanks to all the people who check out my works! Maybe now that I have a nicer camera (digital) I will start to explore photography more.

Color Bias

Sat May 24, 2008, 5:19 PM
Seriously, people on Deviantart seem to have a color bias! Or, should I say, bias towards color.

Actually what I mean by that is that it seems that people (including myself at first) tend to pay much more attention to colored works than anything in pencil or anything that's only inked. I mean, all of my stuff with color has gotten many more hits (except for the TF fanart) when it's been colored. I totally understand why, but it's just frustrating because I've done many drawings lately that I have felt work better in pure pencil (like the Starscream one I posted recently, but there are MANY more, even a couple more of Starscream), but I want to wait on them because I feel that they would be more interesting to people in color. There are also a couple drawings I colored on the computer that will be posted soon, but aren't ready.

I guess that's why I haven't been updating much lately. I have still been drawing at a crazy rate (usually one full page drawing per day, if not more), but I haven't posted more than a couple things lately. SIGH, I guess I will have to give in and start coloring more on the computer (fun but takes a LONG time for me), or just submitting more pencils.

Whaddya all think? More pencils or should I start coloring more on the computer?

Peace out!

TABLETa rasa!

Mon Apr 7, 2008, 5:56 AM
Been throwing the idea around for months now and I finally got the guts to get a tablet.

Man I'm glad I did! I've only had a couple hours to mess around with it (didn't take much time at all to get used to), but it is infinitely better than using a mouse (except for precision stuff that requires selecting a certain pixel or something) to illustrate on the computer.

The first colored-via-tablet work that I will be submitting will be this funny little self-portrait that I did as a supplement to a tag that I did today.

Enjoy, and check back often!

EDIT: Have a couple works that are almost ready to debut that I did with my tablet. I wonder when I'll get around to posting them?

Old Skool Stuff

Tue Feb 19, 2008, 5:16 PM
So yesterday I was faced with the sad fact that the sketchbook that I have had since my first year of college only has a couple of usable pages left. It was because of that fact, as well as the fact that I had NO CLASSES AT WORK YESTERDAY, that I decided to take a little trip down memory lane. So I journeyed all the way back to 2003 at the beginning of my book and bookmarked all the drawings and scraps that I felt were worthy of the scanner.

I came up with about 20 things, but a disturbingly high amount of them were either uncolored or just plain unfinished. So, with my brand-new Copic markers I set to work finishing some projects that I haven't touched in months or years, and the result is a massive update to my deviantart gallery.

Enjoy, and feel free to comment on my progress over the (literally) years. Before I move on to my next sketchbook I will continue to work on some of these, so check back often!
